Dr. Furniss is a graduate of the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry. While in dental school he was a member of the dental fraternity Delta Sigma Delta, an active participant in many Missions of Mercy providing much-needed dental care throughout rural Virginia, and a recipient of the National Health Services Corps scholarship. This scholarship paid for some tuition in return for practicing in an underserved area for 3 years, and prior to moving to Gilmer Dr. Furniss enjoyed serving his patients in rural Mountain Home, Idaho.
Dr. Furniss grew up in southeast Idaho on a small dairy farm. At Snake River high school he was co-captain of a state-champion football team as well as active in wrestling and track. He is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a 2-year mission in Tallahassee, FL. He later attended Idaho State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology. Dr. Furniss’s current hobbies include fishing, 4-wheeling, target shooting, and spending time with his family. His wife’s name is Mandi and they have four children; Lincoln, Baylor, Maycie, and Grady.
The Furniss family has several friends and family here in Texas and is thrilled to be living in our wonderful town of Gilmer!
