Our Cosmetic Services

Bonding and White Fillings

Bonding is a popular method of cosmetic dentistry to enhance the aesthetics of your smile. Bonding is simply using tooth colored filling material to correct cracks or gaps in teeth, as a filling after decay has been removed, or to cover up stains or discolored teeth. A composite resin is molded and sculpted over an adhesive layer that is placed on the tooth. After the resin has been applied, an LED light is used to harden the resin, then polished to give you a fresh new smile.

Teeth Whitening

Keeping our teeth their whitest is a lot harder than it sounds. With all the coffee, wine, smoking and other foods that have the ability to stain our teeth on a daily basis, even proper maintenance sometimes leaves them looking a little dull. We offer both in-office whitening or a take-home tray system. The tray whitening system is completed in 2 steps. The first step is to make an impression of your teeth. With this impression we will make custom whitening trays and we will show you how to use whitening gel to achieve excellent results at home. Combining both methods will get you the whitest results possible.

Dental Veneers

Veneers are an excellent way to redesign and reshape your entire mouth. Veneers are a very thin ceramic shell that covers your existing tooth structure. By placing these new veneers on your teeth, we are able to fix cosmetic issues such as staining, cracked teeth, spaces, misaligned teeth, chipped teeth and other problems. Veneers are a great way to make your smile beautiful while preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible. Making veneers for you usually takes three visits.

Inlays and Onlays

Inlays and onlays are often referred to as partial crowns or three-quarter crowns. This type of restoration is best when the tooth still has some very strong enamel we want to preserve, but the decay is too large to be predictably fixed with a simple filling. Your Gilmer cosmetic dentist has invested in the latest dental technology and Dr. Furniss can now use a computer to make your inlay or onlay in a single visit. Your restoration is made from high-quality dental porcelain and completed in a single appointment, typically in under two hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

What specific cosmetic procedures do you offer in Gilmer?

We provide a comprehensive range of services to enhance your smile, including professional teeth whitening (both in-office and take-home systems), porcelain veneers, and dental bonding. For patients looking to correct structural or alignment issues, we also offer Invisalign® clear aligners, dental implants, and tooth-colored restorative crowns.

How long does the process for dental veneers usually take?

Typically, veneer treatment takes four visits. First, we talk through your goals, take digital impressions, and plan your case. Next, we create a wax-up and refine the design. At the third visit, Dr. Furniss prepares the teeth and places temporary restorations while the lab creates the final porcelain veneers, a process that usually takes 2 to 4 weeks to ensure perfection. At the fourth visit, Dr. Furniss removes the temporaries and places the final porcelain restorations.

Do you offer sedation for patients who are nervous about dental work?

Yes. We understand that dental anxiety is common, so we provide sedation dentistry options to help patients feel more comfortable during treatment. These include Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) and oral conscious sedation. Our goal is to create a relaxed, comfortable environment where you can receive the care you need without added stress.

Are there financing options available for cosmetic treatments?

We believe everyone deserves a beautiful smile regardless of their immediate budget. Furniss Family Dentistry partners with third-party providers like CareCredit™ to offer flexible monthly payment plans. We also accept most major insurances and will help you understand how your benefits may apply to treatment.

What makes Furniss Family Dentistry different from other local offices?

We blend a relationship-first practice with advanced technology. After digital X-rays, we can capture digital impressions, use cone beam CT imaging when needed, work with a CO2 laser for soft tissue treatment, and use intraoral cameras so patients can see exactly what we see. That combination helps us plan carefully and deliver more personalized care.
