Gilmer Cosmetic Dentistry
If you have teeth that are stained, worn, chipped, discolored or a smile you dislike, consider services offered by your Gilmer cosmetic dentist. Choose Furniss Family Dentistry to give you options for a healthy and beautiful smile. We offer a variety of cosmetic dental procedures and will work with you to decide the best treatment for your smile.
Bonding is a popular method of cosmetic dentistry to enhance the aesthetics of your smile. Bonding is simply using tooth colored filling material to correct cracks or gaps in teeth, as a filling after a cavity has been removed, or to cover up stains or discolored teeth.
A composite resin is molded and sculpted over an adhesive layer that is placed on the tooth. After the resin has been applied, an LED light is used to harden the resin, then polished to give you a fresh new smile.
Composite resin is an obvious improvement over unsightly silver amalgam fillings. With the advancements in dental technology, bonding can last for decades. It is a safe, affordable, and attractive solution for many dental problems.
Keeping our teeth their whitest is a lot harder than it sounds. With all the coffee, wine, smoking and other foods that have the ability to stain our teeth on a daily basis, even proper maintenance sometimes leaves them looking a little dull. Teeth whitening is an excellent way to restore the natural color of your teeth or even make them whiter than your natural color if you would like.
We offer both in-office whitening or a take-home tray system. The tray whitening system is completed in 2 steps. The first step is to make an impression of your teeth. With this impression we will make custom whitening trays and we will show you how to use whitening gel to achieve excellent results at home.
In addition to the take-home trays, we offer whitening in our office in a single visit! You have the option of using the take-home trays alone, the in-office whitening alone, or a combination of both. Combining both methods will get you the whitest results possible.
Veneers are an excellent way to redesign and reshape your entire mouth. Veneers are a very thin ceramic shell that covers your existing tooth structure. By placing these new veneers on your teeth, we are able to fix cosmetic issues such as staining, cracked teeth, spaces, misaligned teeth, chipped teeth and other problems. Veneers are a great way to make your smile beautiful while preserving as much natural tooth structure as possible.
Making veneers for you usually takes three visits. In the first visit, we will discuss the new shape and look of what we are going to accomplish by placing the veneers as well as take impressions of your teeth. Our next step is to have our lab build a blueprint in wax for you to see what the final porcelain will look like. Once we have a plan in place, Dr. Furniss will carefully prepare the teeth for the placement of the new veneers as well as create temporaries for you to wear while the lab is creating your porcelain veneers. We only utilize the highest quality laboratory for fabrication of our most esthetic work. This process at the laboratory takes between 10-14 days. Once your veneers are finalized Dr. Furniss will bond the porcelain to your teeth and you can start enjoying your gorgeous new smile!
Inlays and onlays are often referred to as partial crowns or three-quarter crowns. This type of restoration is best when the tooth still has some very strong enamel we want to preserve, but the decay is too large to be predictably fixed with a simple filling. An inlay is done when there is no damage to the cusps of the tooth. Onlays are used when a cusp is missing and the damage is more extensive.
During your appointment, the decay is removed and the tooth is prepared. Traditionally the next step would be to take a goopy impression of your teeth and send this to the lab to have your restoration made, usually out of gold, followed by making a temporary to be worn for the next 2-3 weeks. However, your Gilmer cosmetic dentist has invested in the latest dental technology and Dr. Furniss can now use a computer to make your inlay or onlay IN A SINGLE VISIT! Your restoration will now be made out of the best dental porcelain available and completely finished in a single appointment lasting less than 2 hours. No temporaries, no 2nd visit, no additional numbing!
Furniss Family Dentistry offers amenities and interesting extras to make each visit with us an enjoyable experience. Our goal is to provide high-quality dental care while putting you in the most comfortable setting possible. Our dental facility is modern, clean, and offers the latest in dental technology.
